Madekwe was raised by an ethnically diverse family. Her father is a Nigerian-Swiss, as is her mom who's English. She was raised on a council estate in the south of London. Madekwe was chosen to play Ashley Davenport on ABC's drama The Beautiful Life. The two-episode series aired for just 2 weeks at The CW and then it ended. She was cast in February 2011 as Ashley Davenport on the ABC drama Revenge. The departure of Madekwe from the show was confirmed in May 2013.
