
Allison Brooks Janney was born on November 19, 1959. 2] She is an American actor. Her appearances on screen and the stage have been a hallmark of her career which spans more than three decades. Janney was awarded numerous awards, including the Academy Award and a British Academy Film Award. She also won seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Janney received nominations for at least two Tony Awards. Janney was born in Boston, and raised on the streets of Dayton (Ohio). Janney received a scholarship for studying at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art after graduating from Kenyon College. Janney earned credit for several small and rarely-seen film and TV appearances over the years. Her most famous character in the role of C. J. Cregg on the NBC show The West Wing (1999-2006) brought her the award of four Primetime Emmy Awards. In 2014, she received the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding guest actor in the Drama Series for her character Margaret Scully on the Showtime period drama Masters of Sex. She was best known for her role as Bonnie Plunkett.
