JoyceDeWitt began performing on stage at age 13. DeWitt earned her degree from Ball State University with a Bachelor's of Arts. The director advised her to apply for UCLA's Department of Theater MFA program. In the program, she was awarded the Master of Fine Arts Fellowship, as well as the Clifton Webb Scholarship. Dewitt has claimed that she didn't meet the actor Abe Vigoda while she was at UCLA. She was employed as a secretary during her time at UCLA. DeWitt's role as Janet Wood in Three's Company's 1977-1984 run is her most famous. She was part of the show's pilot and was hired. Janet also appeared in the episode of The Ropers in the year 1979. DeWitt began her acting career in a scene in 1984 of Three's Company. Acting was her first return on stage in the month of June in 1991 when she appeared in an episode of the Noises Off production in Michigan's Cherry County Playhouse. [1] Later she appeared on the TV comedy Spring Fling! A character based on her, voiced by another actress, appeared in a 1997 episode of Pinky and the Brain. She appeared on an episode of Cybill and made a cameo on the penultimate episode of Living Single. A few of her 2000s TV works include Hope Island and The Nick at Nite Holiday Special as along with Call of the Wild.
